A 501(c)(3) Tax-Deductible Campaign

Tennessee’s Engineer Nick Risner has proudly served with Columbia Fire and Rescue since May 2014. He and his wife, Katie, are devoted parents to their son and have built their lives around family, service, and community. In February 2023, during the department’s annual physical examination, routine blood work revealed life-changing news when Nick was diagnosed with colon cancer. Since then, he has faced a difficult and ongoing battle, enduring treatments while the cancer has continued to spread. What began as colon cancer later affected his liver and has now spread to his lungs, presenting new challenges with each step of the journey.

Throughout his career and personal life, Nick has been known as someone who is always willing to help others, whether they are fellow firefighters, friends, neighbors, or complete strangers. His dedication to serving others has made a lasting impact on countless people in the community. Nick is a humble and hardworking man who has never been one to seek attention or ask for assistance. Instead, he has spent years answering the call when others needed support. Now, as he continues this courageous fight, we have the opportunity to stand beside him and his family with the same generosity, strength, and compassion that he has shown to so many others. Let’s come through for the Risner family.
