Relief for the family of Lt. Isai Huerta

On Sunday, June 14, Texas’ Lt. Isai Huerta was on scene at a structure fire when conditions rapidly deteriorated during fire attack operations. Lt. Huerta and his crew on Engine 7 began withdrawing from the building as conditions worsened, and while directing his personnel to exit, he became separated from them. Despite the separation, he ensured that both firefighters under his command exited safely. When he did not emerge from the structure, a mayday was declared.
Firefighters immediately initiated rescue efforts and located Lt. Huerta inside the building. He was removed from the structure and provided emergency medical care. Despite those efforts, Isai suffered critical injuries which, tragically, proved to be fatal. His actions and ultimate sacrifice ensured the safe exit of Odessa Fire Rescue’s crew during rapidly changing fire conditions. Now, in a time of great pain and need, let’s give back to Isai’s family and loved ones while they process their loss.
