Illinois’ John Morgan served as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District for more than 20 years. While on duty on May 31, 2026, he was found unresponsive in the station by his crew. It was clear that he had been down for too long, and nothing could be done. John was one of the finest individuals to wear the uniform and the best paramedic many of his colleagues ever had the privilege of working alongside. His knowledge of EMS, commitment to patient care, and willingness to mentor younger EMTs made a lasting impact on everyone around him.
John began his career as a paramedic and later trained as a firefighter without hesitation. He served for many years as a driver/engineer and was always willing to fill whatever role was needed. His calm presence during the most stressful situations helped steady those around him, and he mentored countless coworkers throughout his career. Outside of work, John was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first. He spent his time supporting his children in sports, taking them hunting, and helping with their 4-H projects. He is survived by his wife and four children; his oldest daughters are preparing to be married, and he was incredibly proud and excited for them. Let’s come together to show the Morgan family they are loved and supported while they deal with the unthinkable.
