It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of DeKalb Firefighter/Paramedic Juan Gasca on Monday, April 6th, 2026. Firefighter/Paramedic Gasca served the DeKalb Fire Department for over four years with dedication and professionalism. During his time with the Department, he was an active member of the Hazardous Materials Team, Public Education Team, and Firefighters Local 1236 Honor Guard. He also previously served with the Genoa-Kingston, Huntley, Kirkland, and Malta Fire Protection Districts. His commitment to public service left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community he served.

Juan was known for his strong work ethic, compassion, and unwavering willingness to help others in times of need. He built meaningful relationships with fellow firefighters and community members alike. The loss of Firefighter/Paramedic Gasca is deeply felt by all who had the honor of working alongside him. He will be remembered for his service, dedication, and the difference he made in so many lives. Let’s get the Gasca family relief while they work through their devastating loss.
