Relief for Cpt. Matthew Arnott and family

A 501(c)(3) Tax-Deductible Campaign

Paw Paw, WV - Captain Matthew Arnott of the Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Company returned to firefighting after 20 years away when his son suggested they volunteer together; while working full time and raising a family, Matthew completed extensive training to regain his skills and qualifications. He was promoted to Captain just a few months ago, working toward his Fire Officer II certification when an unexpected medical emergency interrupted his progress. On August 25, 2026, Matthew sought medical attention after experiencing pressure in his chest and throat. He was hospitalized and informed that he had suffered a heart attack and was at risk of another.

Further testing revealed a 100% blockage in one artery and a 50% blockage in another, leading to surgery on August 31. During the procedure, doctors discovered that his condition was more severe than anticipated and performed a triple bypass. Although the surgery was successful, Matthew went into cardiac arrest while being brought out of sedation and required two rounds of CPR and two defibrillator shocks to revive him. He now faces a lengthy recovery, with an expected return to work in December, while managing unexpected medical bills and the loss of income. Let’s ease the Arnott family’s burden as they fight alongside Matthew in his recovery.
