Justin Laidler joined the Strasburg Fire Department as a volunteer at 16 in 2005, beginning a career defined by dedication and professionalism. In 2010, he was hired by the City of Manassas, VA Fire and Rescue Department, where he rose to Master Technician while also serving as an Assistant Fire Marshal and supporting department logistics on his days off. Known for his discipline, physical fitness, and leadership, Justin earned deep respect among his peers. He took pride in his role, especially driving Tower 1, and was equally known for his cooking and strong personality. Outside of work, he is a dedicated husband and father: he met his wife Brittany in 2009; they married in 2012 and are raising three children together.

In October 2025, Justin accepted a Lieutenant/Fire Marshal position with Frederick County, VA Fire and Rescue to spend more time with his family. Soon after, he began experiencing severe leg pain that rapidly worsened, yet he continued working without complaint, even under physically demanding conditions. After extensive medical evaluations, he was diagnosed with ALS. Despite the devastating diagnosis, Lt. Laidler remains focused on his family, continuing to work when he can and making lasting memories with his wife and children- a powerful reflection of his strength, resilience, and unwavering character.
