Odessa, TX Firefighter/Paramedic Eric Handlin, a 25-year veteran, was found unconscious but breathing at Firehouse 8 during the early morning hours of August 21, 2026. It appears that he fell and suffered a serious head injury sometime during the night. His crew immediately transported him to the emergency room, where he received urgent medical care and underwent extensive surgery. Eric is currently recovering in the intensive care unit under close medical supervision. His condition remains serious, and the road ahead is expected to be long.
As Eric begins this difficult recovery, the future remains uncertain, and he will need continued support in the days and weeks ahead. After 25 years of service, he has dedicated much of his life to protecting and helping others in his community. Now, let’s do the same for Eric and come together to provide some relief for him and his family during this frightening situation.
