Despite the efforts of fellow firefighters, paramedics, and staff at St. Francis Hospital, he passed away later that day.
Engineer Decker served the people of Chicago for nearly 30 years as a member of Engine 71 in the West Ridge neighborhood. Respected for his dedication, experience, and steady leadership, he spent decades protecting others and serving his city with pride. He is survived by grieving family members, friends, coworkers, and countless firefighters whose lives he touched throughout his career.
