North Kansas City FD FF Benoit Coussement, badge number 226, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 10, 2026. Benoit joined the department in July 2024, and quickly became a valued member of their team. At just 29 years old, he was dedicated to serving others and was working toward becoming a paramedic, with plans to graduate from paramedic school in July 2026.
FF Coussement will be remembered for his commitment to the fire service and the positive impact he had on those around him. He is survived by his wife and stepdaughter, whom he loved dearly. During this incredibly difficult time, we will not only keep Benoit’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters in our thoughts as they grieve this profound loss, but offer them financial support to let them cherish his memory without the financial stressors of such a tragedy. Let’s help the family of a hero gone too soon.
