Iowa’s FF Amery Clews was seriously injured in a hiking accident after falling approximately 200 feet down a mountain in Colorado. He is currently in the ICU in Colorado Springs receiving treatment for multiple broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, and a pneumothorax requiring a chest tube. He also suffered a significant concussion and remains very drowsy, often unable to stay awake for long periods. Despite the severity of his injuries, Amery is surrounded by people who care deeply about him and are hoping for his recovery.
Amery is a devoted husband and father of two children, and his family is facing an uncertain road ahead as he continues to recover. Because he lives in Iowa, it is unclear when he will be able to return home following his hospitalization in Colorado. His injuries and extended recovery will create significant challenges for him and his family in the weeks and months ahead.
