Pierce Michael Campbell passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2026, just weeks after celebrating his 10th birthday. In October 2018, at only two years old, Pierce was involved in a devastating car accident that left him with a severe traumatic brain injury. His family was told he would likely remain in a vegetative state and dependent on a ventilator for life- but Pierce defied every expectation. After months of treatment at Johns Hopkins and the Kennedy Krieger Institute, he began breathing on his own, moving, and steadily reclaiming his life, earning the nickname “miracle child.” Over the next eight years, he continued to grow stronger, finding joy in movies, water, school, the outdoors, and visiting his father at the firehouse.

Pierce’s life was a testament to resilience, courage, and perseverance. Though his time was far too short, his impact will never be forgotten. He is deeply loved by his family, including his father, Steven Campbell, a dedicated firefighter and EMT who has served since 2015, including assignments with A34, A3, Engine 23, and currently Engine 33. Let’s get relief to the Campbell family while they work through this devastating loss.
