Honoring the Ultimate Sacrifice of FF Preston Fant

Every firefighter knows the risks. We accept them when we put on the uniform. But you're never truly prepared for the call when one of our own doesn't make it home.

For DeKalb County Firefighter Preston Fant, that call came during a structure fire in a converted warehouse. What started as a standard operation quickly deteriorated. With a delayed water supply, command made the tough but necessary decision to pull everyone out.

In the chaos of the withdrawal, a crew became disoriented. Radio communications failed. The situation intensified in seconds. While other crews navigated to safety, FF Fant did not make it to the exit. He was found, and our brothers did everything they could, but Preston was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Preston made the ultimate sacrifice protecting his community. Now, it's our turn to answer the call for him. He leaves behind a family devastated by this loss. We, his fire service family, need to stand in the gap for them.

Your support will directly help his loved ones navigate the unimaginable future they now face.
