Hurt on duty, but no workers’ comp. Let’s fix that.
Let’s get
Rick the relief he deserves
A 501(c)(3) Tax-Deductible Campaign
On New Year’s Eve 2025, Rick Bassin of South Carolina suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while on duty at his full time department, was resuscitated and spent a couple of days in the hospital. Since the cardiac arrest wasn’t brought on by actively fighting fire, the state’s workers’ comp has denied the claim.
Rick's doctor will not clear him and is now being forced to retire one year early. This means the next check he receives from the county he’s worked for will be his final check until the retirement is approved, which will be sometime in late April or even May. The bills are piling up and both he and his family need our help.
The state won’t step up, so we will.
