Morgantown, IN - Recently, Morgantown and Fruitdale FD’s Chris Ainsworth suffered a severe heart attack while completing paperwork near the department before his shift. Fire crews arrived before he lost his pulse and worked to resuscitate him multiple times, requiring six defibrillations. Chris was transported to Community Hospital South, where doctors determined that the extent of the blockages and damage made stents an unsuitable treatment option; he was then flown to Community Hospital North to stabilize and regain enough strength for open-heart surgery. Although he remains in critical condition, sedated and on a ventilator, he has shown some signs of improvement.
Chris faces a long and uncertain road to recovery, and his wife, Danielle, remains by his side during this difficult time.
