Relief for FF/PM Bob Abraham and family
Birmingham, MI - BFD’s Bob Abraham is a 39-year-old husband, father of three, and Firefighter/Paramedic + EMS Coordinator. Outside of the firehouse, he serves as a Fire and EMS Instructor, teaching and mentoring current and future first responders. In August 2026, a routine medical evaluation for mild iron deficiency anemia unexpectedly led to a colon cancer diagnosis. On October 13, he underwent surgery at the University of Michigan Hospital to remove the affected portion of his colon and rectum. Unfortunately, further testing revealed that the cancer had spread to nearby lymph nodes, resulting in a stage III colon cancer diagnosis.
Bob is now recovering from surgery and preparing for chemotherapy while facing the uncertainty that comes with his diagnosis. His greatest concern is for his wife and three children, as he hopes to continue making memories with them and watching his children grow. Along with the physical and emotional challenges, time away from work, reduced teaching opportunities, and ongoing medical appointments have created financial uncertainty for his family. Let’s provide some space to breathe while they fight this together.
