Support Marshall Dawson’s Road to Recovery:

A Courageous Volunteer Firefighter in Need:

Marshall Dawson, a 26-year-old volunteer firefighter from Milton, WV, has dedicated his life to serving others. Recently, while working out of state in Virginia, Marshall was involved in a severe car accident on May 10th that left him with a broken T12 vertebrae. A large fragment from his T12 was dangerously protruding into his spinal cord, resulting in a critical spinal cord injury. Miraculously, despite the severity of his injuries, Marshall was not paralyzed.

The Battle Ahead:

On May 13th, Marshall underwent his first surgery to place brackets and screws in his back, which required the removal of his T11 and L1 vertebrae. Just two days later, on May 15th, he faced a second surgery aimed at repairing his spinal cord. Thanks to the skill and dedication of his medical team, Marshall emerged from both surgeries with full function of his legs. However, his journey is far from over. Doctors estimate that his recovery will take between 6 to 12 months, if not longer.

A Family in Need:

Marshall is not only a dedicated firefighter, he is the main provider for his 1-year-old son and girlfriend. The accident has left him unable to work, creating significant financial strain for his young family. While he remains in the hospital in Salem, VA, and will soon move to a rehabilitation facility, the road to recovery will be long and challenging.
